Debra Bottinick joined the American Academy of CME in 2003 as education manager. She holds a master’s degree in public health with an emphasis in health education and the behavioral sciences from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey–Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Rutgers University in Piscataway, New Jersey. 

She has numerous years of experience in the development and implementation of medical and health care professional education programs in both the public and private sectors. In earlier positions and with federal funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, she was responsible for health care professional education and training in the areas of HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis. Her past educational planning experience includes projects related to women’s and men’s health, asthma, and infectious diseases. 

At the Academy, Ms. Bottinick is responsible for ensuring that educational activities are planned and implemented in accordance with the Essentials and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education and other accrediting agencies such as the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education and the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She is integrally involved in the educational planning of certified activities, including needs assessment, the writing of educational objectives, and evaluation of program effectiveness in meeting identified needs. Ms. Bottinick is also responsible for on-site monitoring of educational activities.
